No matter what your goals are, nutrition will play a valuable role in your success. Many individuals have different goals such as getting as lean as possible, getting bigger and stronger, and getting healthier. Most people are searching for some combination of these along with perhaps some other specific goals such as a sport or hobby. Although your goals may vary, there are some staples that should be a part of everyone’s daily diet barring some special circumstance.
1.) Meat – This is the most general term I can use to refer to any chicken, beef, pork, fish ect… To maximize you protein and essential amino acid intake you should be eating some kind of meat every day.
2.) Eggs – Eggs contain all of your essential amino acids plus a ton of healthy fat and cholesterol that can help ensure optimal hormone function in the body.
3.) Green Leafy Vegetables – People should eat more vegetables in general, but every day you should consume green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach and broccoli to help with your fiber and vitamin/mineral intake.
4.) Essential Fatty Acids – Make sure to incorporate around 20 percent of your caloric intake from healthy fats such as coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, or flaxseed oil. You can also get these healthy fats from things such as fish and nuts.
5.) Greek Yogurt – Preferably no added sugars if you are trying to lose fat and it is not consumed post-workout. Make sure it is real greek yogurt containing the proper probiotics needed to help with gut health. You can also get some good bacteria from thinks like sauerkraut, pickles, and seaweed.
Lots Of Water – Although the quantities vary based on need, most people should be trying to drink more water consistently every day. Though this seems like common sense to many of you, you would be amazed to learn how many individuals drink hardly any water whatsoever.
Green Tea – This will help to spike the metabolism, reduce cravings, and is anti-oxidant.
Iodine – Recent studies have shown that most people are deficient in iodine which can lead to issues with the thyroid and metabolism. Make sure you are trying to consume adequate iodine through things like seafood and using ionized salt.
