RAC Featured Class: Chi Gong

Ancient Practice Brings Modern Results

Developed thousands of years ago by Taoists in ancient China, Chi Gong is a practice which combines postural training, breathing techniques, mental imagery, and gentle movements to guide the flow of energy or “chi” through the body.

Some of the documented benefits of Qi Gong include:
• Increases flexibility and joint mobility
• Mental relaxation
• Stimulates immune system
• Reduces stress
• Improves sleep
• Increases energy and mental clarity
• Occasional remission of chronic and debilitating illnesses
• Slowing of the biomarkers for aging
• Reduced risk of stroke and cardiac events

To say “Chii Gong” is a bit like saying “dance,” since there are many different forms of Chi Gong, all designed with different styles and purposes.

Whether you are young or old, weak or strong, or overweight or slender, you can perform Chi Gong to gain or maintain optimal health and well-being from the inside out. Consistent practice will bring about improvement in energy, metabolism, balance, flexibility, centered calm and clarity.

Certified Instructor Rick Gridley teaches Chi Gong at RAC every Monday from 4:30-5:30pm.
