The Unbalanced Work Equation

May 2, 2016[email protected]Fitness

By: Anthony Campo

Over time we have come up with more and more technological advancements, most of which with the purpose of making life easier. We usually focus on the pros of this and why not, everything is easier. But what does the word easier mean? In general, if something is easier it means that it requires less work.
Our body is the most intricate complex machine there is. Part of the evolution of our body chemistry has been a delicate balance between our nutrient intake and work that we do. This balance can be looked at as an equation…
Proper Nutrient Intake
____________ = Optimal Body Chemistry/Metabolism
Total Work

The problem is that we are consuming far too much processed foods instead of whole foods which have created nutrient imbalances detrimental to body chemistry and metabolism. When you combine this with the fact that we have continuously come up with more ways to do less work you get an unbalanced equation. An unbalanced equation means a body that is not functioning properly. As the equation gets progressively more unbalanced you end up with disease and sickness related to metabolism at an unprecedented level.
Think back just 100 years ago, and how much work an individual had to do on a daily basis just to survive. Modern conveniences mean that in today’s world you can survive without doing any real work whatsoever. This means that for many of us who enjoy too many modern conveniences, training is not just something you do to look good, but a responsibility to your health. Balancing out the equation means adding in “artificial work” or training to account for our unbalanced nutrient intake and lifestyles.
