Disaster Training

Everyday unfortunate events occur. The degree in how much these events affect us is trainable. The Circle of Control advises us to focus more on areas we have control over and less on areas we do not have control over. It is an important tool that can be applied in many areas of life. The Circle of Control concept will help you to maximize your time and optimally achieve your goals.

It is important to understand the relationship between areas that you can and cannot control in terms of health and fitness. Let’s look at two examples, one situation that can be controlled and one that cannot.

-Can Be Controlled – Your base level of fitness
-Cannot Be Controlled – Battling a genetic disease

On the surface these might look like two independent things, however when you look deeper you will see that having control over your base level of fitness can make all the difference in the world in how you are able to handle a disease you do not have control over going forward. Your base level of fitness could be the difference in when/if you become dependent on a loved one or skilled nursing facility. It also has an impact on how long you are able to maintain your function and quality of life going forward.

We should all train like tomorrow might be the day we are diagnosed with a disease or are hit by a car. Train to prepare yourself for a situation in which you cannot train or eat as you normally do. If you prepare for disaster then you will give yourself a better chance of coming out of any situation with the least amount of damage possible.

The good news is that for most people this entire means is to train consistently with fitness and nutritional plan that helps you achieve your personal best.
